Software to Run Your Vinyl Cutter

Here is a short discussion on some of the different software options you have when it comes to running your cutter. Now first off depending on what type of cutter you got it may have come with some very basic software to cut with. Often times you'll need two pieces to the software. You need something to design your work in and something to take the vector graphics and send it to the cutter, that same software must allow you to configure the job also.

All in one solutions

Most people will take the software they got with their cutter and not use. This is because there are many great packages out there than do much more. If you will be using your cutting machine for more than a few hours a day it will be desirable to have the most efficient software you can. From our experience Flexi sign is one of the standards in vinyl cutting and manipulation. Flexi is a full blown sign package allowing you to take your artwork from creation to cutting within the same package. Depending on your budget, the price of flexi is a little steep. Similarly Gerbers Omega does the same, although usually limited to their equipment. Slightly less features but still a great piece of software, we use SignGo for cutting. All of the software above let you split your jobs into colors making it simple to process jobs.

Plugins

Your other option is to use a plugin with your existing software such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. Cocut is one such package that does this. With a press of a few buttons you can send your artwork from this software right to your cutter without leaving your favorite drawing package.
